Major International FIBC Associations
Warrington Bulk Bags as a FIBC producer works in accordance with the basic standards and regulations issued by the FIBCA (Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Association) and EFIBCA (European Flexible Intermediate Bulk Container Association). There are more FIBC associations across the globe – such as Australian FIBCA, Indian FIBCA – all of these work completely independently. Let’s get down to the profiles of these two major governing bodies and learn their history and running tasks and missions.
FIBCA was formed in 1983 by a number of FIBC manufacturers as a response to the need to control products shipment and a year prior to the U.S. Department of Transportation allowed the use of FIBCs for transportation of hazardous products. At that time the association had a hard time mainly because of the lack of the clear purpose. However, things changed when the business was headed by Cindy Finley, a Vice President of one of the founding companies - B.A.G. Corporation and a lady with solid experience in the industry. She managed to solidify the focus of the association. Currently their mission is encouragement of potential and existing clients to use FIBC more extensively and to implement standards and regulations among the association members. In 2015 FIBCA celebrates its anniversary with 90 members from 22 countries onboard.
EFIBCA was founded in 1983 and issued its first standards publicly in 1985. Since that time the association is an ongoing participant in matters of CEN and ISO FIBC standards. In 2015 EFIBCA, headed by the President Dr. Amir Samadijavan, counts over 30 members. Its mission is stated as representing the interests of the industry, setting up standards, informational and cooperational activity.
